Wild Strawberry Cafe at Peterley Manor Farm is a wonderful find. Not far beyond Hughenden tucked away is this brilliant, dog friendly location. It was a cool day but we still sat out as it was busy and cosy. Inside - difficult with a hungry Labdrador!
You just turn up and grab a seat and order at the bar. There is a wonderful choice of homegrown produce in a great mixed menu with something for everyone. Plus a good selection of hot drinks - of course coffee for me.
They also have water available for dogs which is ideal.
On arrival you immediately feel transported and can feel at home. Having chosen a dish we have been thinking of making at Coopers due to a regular requesting it I am sold even more. We’ll make it Cooperfied but this was a salt beef hash with fried egg. Very tasty though a little more refined than I was expecting. It tasted natural and genuine, I say this as so many places food can taste synthetic. This was followed by one of my fave cakes - a guiness chocolate cake with frosting. Moorish and a thoroughly enjoyed it, a perfect way to end the meal.
Alongside the food I had a coffee. All are French press (Cafetiere) using Extract coffee, a brilliant roasters based in Bristol. Though maybe they’d like more local ;) It is made very well and the full flavour columbian came through with a nice vibrant edge. A fantastic and simple, reliable way to serve coffee without having to have a trained barista to do specialty coffee justice when making various espresso based coffees.
If you fancy trying something a bit different it is a fantastic place, plus there are other pop up experiences that happen up, which is brilliant use of the lovely outdoor space.
I am positive people will enjoy a visit here plus you can pop into the farm shop and purchase plenty of goodies.
