Cooper continues his adventures in Warren Row today, home of Velolife.
We’d been told about this place by a couple of friends, Adam and Gary, his cute pug and buddy of Coops. With our new lease of life and 2017 adventures it seemed a fitting place to start exploring once again. Just a 15 minute drive from Marlow, not far off the A4 to Reading, we stopped off for a coffee and delicious cake.
What this place is completely ideal for is cyclists, whether as a stop on a ride or for a service (bike that is… dirtbag!) Cycling is awkward for a dog, hence us driving :) Though Cooper does LOVE cyclists. While not cyclists ourselves, we were still welcomed with big smiles and laid back service from two friendly chaps. Other customers were also very friendly – having a doggie alongside is great for breaking down barriers and getting chatting. We ordered a cortado and piece of carrot cake – all in the name of research of course!
Cake was delicious and perfect with the coffee, maybe on the large side for me as I’m not a big milk drinker but it was decent coffee, so also tried a macchiato as well. A dark chocolatey flavour with a fair bit of bitterness but fresh and hit the coffee spot.
There was a steady flow of people in and out even with the late afternoon. The décor is really fitting with the older building and the fact they service bikes. Little stools without upholstery, ideal for sweaty fitness people, lovely little features such as the cups hanging over the coffee machine and array of cakes on the side. Outside there is plenty of space for bikes, I can imagine it being packed in the summer mornings outside with the well planned outdoor space. There is also a dinky little art shop which is always a win in our book.
This is not a foodie place for those wanting breakfast but it works brilliantly. We will definitely head back and look for a walk nearby too. We are super happy we went and highly recommending it to others who want a friendly coffee stop with tasty cake. Check it out @velolife.co.uk
Happy coffee hunting! Over and out,
Cooper & Co
